Wasteful processes can be substantially reduced using Manual Production Systems, since the assembly principle associated with these systems is easy to put into practice. Manual production systems meet all the requirements for “lean production” – starting with production timed to the customer’s cycles, through the pull and zero faults principle, and up to the one-piece-flow. The user is now able to avoid overproduction and reduce costly stocks. As the entire flow becomes more and more transparent, wait times are eliminated and transport distances reduced. The kanban principle calls for less material in the continual production flow. Instead of stocking parts which eat up capital, only the components actually needed for the order are supplied and delivered for production.
