Shift On Fly – Compact 2-gear transmission for on-the-fly shifting
Rapidly traveling mobile machines are generally equipped with hydrostatic travel drive and a transmission that requires that the vehicle be stopped for shifting. The drawback to this drive is that the required gear must be selected before starting off. This means it is not possible to run through the entire tractive force and speed ranges. As a solution Rexroth has joined with renowned transmission manufacturers to develop the Shift On Fly system.
SOF offers new possibilities for the travel drive especially for telehanders, municipal vehicles and fast moving wheel loaders in the compact class. It enables starting off without tractive force compromises, and the desired maximum speed is reached using the second drive range selectable without stopping. This cost-effective transmission and hydraulics concept features compact dimensions for optimal space utilization especially in compact work equipment.
