Transfer Systems

The traditional transfer system uses a two level concept. For the last couple of years, almost all specifications require a one level transfer system. In most cases a self-propelled system is required as well.Bosch Rexrothdeveloped a number of different one level transfer systems, all of them with a hydraulic lifting device in order to unload the wheels for changing direction. This hydraulic lifting device can also be used to built a so-called “fluid bed support”.

It is important to support a ship in such a way that the load is spread evenly over the supports. By using hydraulic jacks between wheels and load and by interconnecting the jacks in a number of groups during transport, the forced acting on the ship remain balanced and independent of height differences. The use of a fluid bed support system may increase the capacity of shiplift by 20-25%.
