IndraDrive Mi: The 70/85 Principle

Up to 20 ultra-compact servo drives Rexroth IndraDrive Mi can be connected in series with a hybrid cable. This reduces the cabling volume by up to 85 percent and the control cabinet volume by up to 70 percent. With IndraDrive Mi Rexroth is significantly adding to the potential of machine decentralization and modularization.
The hybrid connection cable, which reaches 100 meters in total length, combines high-capacity supply and real-time control communication through SERCOS interface. Without having to modify the control cabinet and without any additional hardware, the user can connect up to 20 servo drives in series, thus being able to flexibly scale machine functions. The integrated motor-controller combination, which is available in four frame sizes, provides the full functionality range of the intelligent IndraDrive family.
Rexroth now implements a completely novel construction principle by presenting IndraDrive Mi. The circumferential (long) surface of the motor is used as a heat sink for the control electronics which is mounted to the motor in an ultra-flat design, thus forming a minimal disturbance contour. This reduces the overall drive/motor volume by up to thirty percent, as compared with other integrated solutions where the electronics are situated behind the motor. As a result, up to 70 percent of space can be saved in the control cabinet.
