Meet Mugove our Regional Controller
for Sales Unit Europe North
My name is Mugove Savanhu. I am a 30-year-old Zimbabwean and have been living in Denmark for the past seven years. My academic background is in Economics, Accounting and Finance and for the past 2.5 years I have worked as Regional Controller for Sales Unit Europe North.
How did your journey lead you to your current position in the company?
It's funny, even as a kid, I was always drawn to numbers. That interest solidified during an internship where I got to try out different departments. When I landed in finance and controlling, it just clicked, everything felt right. From then, I knew finance/controlling was for me, and every step in my career I've taken since, has been aligned with that. My journey into Bosch began soon after my MSc graduation when I joined the controlling team in the Home and Comfort division. A year later, through my various tasks, I found myself gravitating more towards financial planning and analysis, particularly how insights contribute to strategic decision-making. This drive for data-driven strategy fuelled my next move to take on the role as Regional Controller in a dynamic and driven enviroment as Europe North.
Can you describe your role and responsibilities within the company? What do you enjoy most about your job?
In my capacity, my core responsibilities include coordinating and driving our regional financial planning process, ensuring the delivery of timely, high-quality data. I collect diverse financial data across our region, develop and maintain tools to enhance analytical efficiency, conduct analyses, and provide support in ad-hoc financial tasks, all to generate insights for managerial financial strategic decisions. Furthermore, I am responsible for maintaining, updating and further developing our regional financial databases, models, and business intelligence platforms. In parallel, my role also extends to business analysis, where I collaborate closely with the digitalization department to drive innovative development of business intelligence tools.
The most satisfying aspect of my role is the strategic impact of my work. I relish the challenge of developing tools, performing financial analysis translating complex data into clear insights for managerial strategic decision making towards the company financial goals. I also enjoy the collaborative nature of my role that spans across different countries and departments with dynamic settings, fostering continuous learning and allowing me to contribute towards projects addressing inefficiencies and crafting reports that directly inform and influence financial strategic decisions driving the company goals.
Outside of work, what are some of your passions or hobbies? How do you balance your personal interests with your professional life?
My passions and hobbies are broad and varied, reflecting a desire to continuously learn and embrace new experiences. I categorize my passions and hobbies into:
Physical Pursuits: I maintain an active routine, hitting the gym at least three times a week, participating in team sports such as football, volleyball, and basketball. My recent additions include badminton, skiing, and swimming.
Intellectual Growth: I actively seek knowledge through educational documentaries, an array of podcasts, and striving for a dedicated reading practice.
Creative Expression: I channel my creativity into fashion and photography.
Social Engagement: My social calendar often includes networking events, intellectual engagement events (TED talks, public speaking events etc), concerts, festivals, and urban exploration. While living abroad, my family and friends remain paramount, and I consistently make time for these vital connections.
My work- life balance is achievable by simply being organized and having structure in my days. Thanks to the healthy flexible culture of the company.
Can you share a personal or professional achievement that you are particularly proud of?
I am proud of my journey of moving from Zimbabwe to Denmark. Born and raised in a different environment and cultural context, this transition is a challenge, but also an incredible opportunity for growth. Navigating a new country, adapting to a new culture, learning a new language, building a new social network, making new friends while simultaneously advancing my career in a foreign professional landscape is not possible without resilience and adaptability. The experience has been a continuous process of learning and adaptation, pushing me beyond my comfort zone. While challenging, it has shaped me, not just professionally but also personally, enabled me to see life, cultures, and challenges through a different nuanced lens, equipping me with a unique perspective and an unwavering belief in the power of embracing change and continuous growth. ’Growth only happens outside the comfort zone, get comfortable being uncomfortable.
What do you value most about the company? How does the team collaborate to achieve common goals?
I highly value our open-door office culture for fostering seamless, informal interaction across all levels, enhancing collaboration and quick problem-solving. Furthermore, I also value the flexibility that empowers to optimize productivity and work-life balance. I highly appreciate the collaborative dynamic within my team and across the departments, working together on various projects foster a strong sense of cooperation and mutual support.
