Break Through for TIER 4 Compatible Control Valves

Break Through for TIER 4 Compatible Control Valves

With their ML-18 Rexroth sets a new standard for energy efficient pressure compensated load-sensing control valves. The ML-18 design was focused on reducing power consumption on new TIER 4 applications such as skid steers, small wheel loaders and material handlers. In applications requiring up to 40 gpm (151 lpm) at 4000 psi (276 bar), the ML-18 can reduce pressure drops as much as 50 percent versus the competitors, therefore setting a new industry standard for reduced hydraulic power consumption.

The key features that enable such savings are the monoblock design which reduces the interface restrictions between sections, dedicated tank coring for the highest flow section and the use of backpressure valving for forced flow regenerating. To achieve these features Rexroth has employed sophisticated computer modeling to optimize the internal flow passages of the valve which creates optimal flow geometry, while at the same time minimizing the overall package size. The ML-18 architecture was developed so that OEM’s could choose electro-hydraulic as well as pilot operation for spool modulation, giving the ML-18 the flexibility to meet the control system of choice depending on the equipment requirements. While the base configuration for the ML-18 is a 3 spool mono-block design, it was developed so that the Rexroth M4 series sectional valves could be added to the end of the mono-block to give OEMs the required flexibility to optimize configurations as required in meeting their specific needs.
