EasyHandling enables efficient automation solutions for handling tasks in the photovoltaics industry.
Rexroth’s EasyHandling system increases efficiency for photovoltaics module production
When it comes to production, the critical factor is high output – a fact which also holds true for the photovoltaics industry. Fast commissioning, flexible format changes, and short downtimes are key levers for which handling systems represent an effective starting point. EasyHandling from Rexroth, a leading specialist in the field of drive and control technologies, is a modular set of perfectly matched electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic components. The system offers custom solutions and standardization for numerous handling tasks along the module production value-added chain. Ironless linear motors position cells and panels with superior precision and high synchronization quality. A form-fit connection method simplifies construction and assembly, while software assistants reduce commissioning time.
The EasyHandling system comprises a broad spectrum of components that are scalable in terms of performance and function and can be combined freely: including grippers, rotary modules, linear modules, servo motors, drives, and controls including visualization. Complete linear systems with various drive technologies ensure flexibility and reduce the amount of assembly effort. The axis systems’ mechanic interfaces are perfectly matched thanks to the Easy-2-Combine form-fit connection method, which replaces up to 75 % of the specially-designed connecting elements previously needed. Open communication interfaces and standardized programming languages with predefined functions simplify the integration of handling systems into existing automation structures.
EasyHandling combines all these factors, enabling customized systems with a high degree of standardization and up to 80 % less engineering expenditure.
Software reduces commissioning time and provides maintenance instructions
EasyWizard from Rexroth is an engineering tool in which specific electrical and mechanical data is already defined for each axis. It recognizes the electronic nameplate of the IndraDyn motor and links the data to the mechanical parameters after the linear module’s serial number is entered. This narrows down the scope of commissioning to specifying a few application-specific parameters. The drive is ready for operation in just a few minutes, decreasing the overall time otherwise required by up to 90 %.
Based on the axis-specific mechanical data defined, the drive controller software provides the operator with maintainance instructions that correspond to the specific run times and travel paths. That makes it easier to adhere to lubrication intervals, thereby increasing service life and reducing the risk of mechanical failure.
Ironless linear motors for guaranteed precision and synchronization
Motors in Rexroth’s MCL ironless production line position small masses with superior precision and maximum synchronization. That makes them particularly well suited for tasks such as laser structuring and isolation as well as solar cell handling. Four sizes with graded lengths and a maximum force range between 20 and 1,700 newtons are offered. This enables acceleration of up to 300 m/s² and maximum speed of up to 1,300 m/min. The compact design offers several different mounting planes for primary and secondary parts, allowing for the highest flexibility in construction design and simplifying integration into machines.
