How the modular valve platform RM Global optimizes the engineering, installation space, and operation of hydraulic work functions in off-highway vehicles.
Whether drilling rig, forestry machine, concrete pump, telehandler, or mobile and truck-mounted loader crane: the demands on work hydraulics of off-highway machines are constantly increasing. Manufacturers of mobile working machines expect flexible solutions that require little installation space, are easy to configure, and at the same time operate energy efficient. Good news: For directional control valves with Load-Sensing, these requirements are met with the new RM Global valve platform from Bosch Rexroth.
The innovative design approach: a modular control block with up to 24 valve modules, which can be flexibly combined without a separate adapter plate thanks to the common flange pattern. Further components include the inlet element for the variable displacement pump, a shift-over axis for the pump-line, and various end plates.
The big advantage of the modular approach? The standardized valve modules with clearly defined interfaces reduce variance and system complexity. Time savings are also ensured by the associated online configurator, which digitally maps all components and options and provides not only the 3D model but also the technical documentation.
Furthermore, the RM Global modular system also impresses energetically: Compared to the predecessor series M4, it has been possible to reduce internal leakage by up to 20 %. Together with the flow-optimized ducting and the increased maximum pressure of 420 bar, the energy consumption of off-highway machines decreases so significantly, while maintaining the same high system performance, that downsizing of cylinders and attachments is sometimes possible. This further reduces the total costs for the OEM.
The modular valve platform RM Global offers attractive additional benefits through a range of value-added functions for increased operating comfort and machine efficiency. Here is a selection:
RM Global offers even more efficiency and control accuracy in combination with the electronic pump control eOC (electronic Open Circuit). In this system solution, the pump and valve are perfectly matched, allowing powerful overall systems with precise motion sequences and reduced energy consumption.
Anyone looking to simplify integration even further will be pleased with the new Onboard Electronics (OBE). The EHS4 for 12- and 24-volt electrical systems offers a sensor resolution of 5 µm and supports modern communication standards such as CANopen and J1939.
