Tech-Podcast AMR ActiveShuttle

The AMR ActiveShuttle makes it possible to enter the factory of the future today: without adapting your existing factory infrastructure, it is quickly implemented, intuitive to operate, fully networked and safe to use! ActiveShuttle automates and standardises your internal material and goods flow. In future, transport your floor rollers loaded with small load carriers (KLT) in a highly flexible and safe manner. In the latest episode of our Tech Podcast, product manager Philipp Maurer has just come from a demo at a customer's site. Reason enough to talk about the autonomous mobile robot from Bosch Rexroth and the future of intralogistics.

Safely on the move thanks to 3D obstacle detection - the Tech Podcast takes a look at the ActiveShuttle autonomous transport system.

AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot): AMRs perform material handling tasks automatically without human intervention. Typically, AMRs use integrated SLAM-based navigation for localisation.

AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle): AGVs perform material handling tasks automatically without human intervention, but require external physical infrastructure for navigation and localisation on all routes.

Experience the ActiveShuttle live - Philipp Maurer tells us in our tech podcast what it looks like when he demonstrates the Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) at a customer's site. The customer does not have to prepare IT or infrastructure, because the autonomous robot comes in a closed system including a server with ActiveShuttle Management System (AMS). Plug & Go: After about one hour, the customer can experience how the ActiveShuttle integrates into his individual production environment.

Specialised in the transport of small load carriers (KLT), the AMR with its integrated lifting platform picks up the material from floor rollers and brings it autonomously from A to B. But what environment does the autonomous transport system need? Whether dust or slope - Philipp Maurer explains how it works in normal industrial environments and how the Bosch Rexroth experts look at the respective application at the customer's site in advance.

But what distinguishes the AMR from an AGV or FTS? The Autonomous Mobile Robot moves freely in space thanks to laser navigation and avoids obstacles. In addition, Philipp Maurer tells us how the AMR provides its users with a high degree of flexibility; from changing production environments or use cases, to scaling the number of robots, to mapping and covering new factory areas via the AMS (ActiveShuttle Management System).

Listen to our latest episode on the AMR ActiveShuttle and learn more about the extended perception of the AMR, how our autonomous robot interacts with people in the factory and what the future of intralogistics looks like. In any case, Philipp Maurer is certain: "The topic of increasing efficiency remains an important one for our customers worldwide, and for that reason the topic of automated transports will [also] remain an important one."
