In 2023, we shared how Bosch Rexroth hydraulics help protect Kuala Lumpur through large-scale projects — a system that reduces both flooding and traffic congestion in the heart of the city. That story looked at the big picture of urban resilience.
Today, we take a closer look at a newer project that brings this commitment to life in a very specific way. Hidden beneath one of the city’s busiest urban linkways lies a piece of engineering designed to protect infrastructure and keep daily life moving.
Urban linkways are essential for keeping people and infrastructure connected. But they also sit below ground level, where the risk of flooding is highest. Protecting these access points requires a system that is both strong and reliable.
The solution? A sealed concrete block powered by Bosch Rexroth hydraulics. When conditions are safe, the block is lowered to allow access. When flood risks rise, it is lifted back into place, creating a watertight seal to safeguard the linkway.
For this project, Kenann Engineering, the system integration partner, turned to Bosch Rexroth cylinders and hydraulic power units to drive the concrete block.

Installing the system required careful coordination. Using special lifting equipment, Kenann’s team positioned and aligned the Rexroth cylinders beneath the concrete block. Every mounting angle, every hose connection, and every detail of the power unit was checked before the system went live.
Kenann Engineering highlighted the difference Bosch Rexroth made: “It’s not just the German engineering we trust — it’s also the local support that comes with it. That combination is what gives us peace of mind in a high-pressure project like this.”
