The Hägglunds CA is an advanced radial piston motor with a rotating cylinder block (hollow shaft) and a stationary housing. How does it work?

Construction: The cylinder block is mounted in the housing on heavy-duty, stationary roller bearings. An even number of pistons are arranged radially inside the block, and a dedicated distributor precisely directs the oil flow.

Torque generation: Each piston is connected to a cam roller. Under hydraulic pressure, the rollers are pressed against the wavy surface of the cam ring (which is rigidly connected to the housing), generating smooth rotational movement.

Drive transmission: The available torque is directly proportional to the pressure in the system. The connection to the driven machine's shaft is made via a hollow shaft or a spline.

Connections: The main supply lines are connected to ports A and C in the connection block, while the drain (leakage) lines are connected to ports D in the motor housing.
