Bosch Rexroth Receives Two 2022 Engineers’ Choice Awards From Control Engineering Magazine

Smart Function Kit for Handling and ctrlX CORE both receive awards in annual contest

  • Smart Function Kit for Handling wins the Automated Processes: Robotics category
  • ctrlX CORE receives honorable mention in the Control Systems: PLCs, PACs category

Two Bosch Rexroth products, the Smart Function Kit for Handling and ctrlX CORE, received awards in the 2022 Engineers’ Choice Awards from Control Engineering magazine. The Smart Function Kit for Handling is the winner of the Automated Processes: Robotics category and ctrlX CORE received honorable mention in the Control Systems: PLCs, PACs category.

The Control Engineering Engineers’ Choice Awards highlight some of the best new control, instrumentation and automation products as chosen by the magazine’s print and online subscribers.

The Smart Function Kit for Handling is part of Bosch Rexroth’s expanding family of Smart MechatroniX platforms of “plug-and-produce” mechatronics solutions. The Smart Function Kit is a ready-to-install multiaxis positioning and handling solution for automation applications such as pick-and-place functions in logistics, machine assembly, packaging technology or assembly processes.

Using Rexroth’s online LinSelect linear motion software makes it possible to drastically reduce the engineering outlay and allows commissioning with just a few clicks. Automatic paramaterization of the servo drive and drag-and-drop user software enables programming of motion sequences to be simple and intuitive, so system operators can handle the task without any specialized programming knowledge.

ctrlX CORE is a compact, 64-bit multicore, Linux-based control solution, part of the ctrlX AUTOMATION platform that has been designed to reduce engineering time and increase productivity. Its Linux-based multicore technology with real-time control removes the boundaries between IPC and embedded system platforms and drive-based technology. The system’s virtual work environment allows for programming and testing without any hardware.
