Marex OS II for Controllable Pitch Propellers, Water-Jet and Hybrid Drives

Marex OS II for Controllable Pitch Propellers, Water-Jet and Hybrid Drives

Marex OS II-CPP: Optimized for applications with controllable pitch propellers, such as wind farm service vessels.

More than 10,000 units installed on vessels all over the world attest to the maturity and reliability of Rexroth’s Marex OS as a hardware and software platform for controlling ship propulsion systems. Its applications range from simple reversing gear systems to redundant controllable pitch propeller systems, for example on offshore supply vessels. The latest system, Marex OS II-CPP, completes the modular Marex product range, closing the gap between Marex SB for small boats and Marex OS for more extensive applications. With this package, a manufacturer-independent control is now available for controllable pitch propellers in small- and medium-scale applications.

Marex OS II-CPP meets all the demands of a state-of-the-art electronic remote control. The system is easily customized to the individual requirements of drive and control stations using the service and parameterization tool ParaEdit. With this tool, customers can quickly and easily specify the desired number of keys or special control head setups. The display and user interface options on the central unit guarantee simple commissioning. All parameters can be set directly without the need for extra equipment.

The predefined functions can be easily modified–even on site–using an integrated PLC interface. Other interfaces are also provided for higher-level components such as joysticks or DP systems. Extra input and output channels are available through CAN I/O modules. Finally, the open software design allows functions to be changed without altering the software separately.

The control is also suitable for systems with variable output drives such as water jets and rudder propellers, as well as for serial or parallel hybrid propulsion trains.

For Marex OS II-CPP, the operator can choose control heads from the 230, 240 or 241 product families, all in the familiar Marex OS design. A high-capacity color display with integrated keys is used to visualize operating conditions, control head settings, and feedback. The displays provide excellent legibility, even on external control stations and in broad daylight.

Rexroth supplies the relevant control system components for individual configurations. As a full-liner, Rexroth also offers to conduct project management and supply pre-adjusted and type-approved systems.
