IMTS 2012: Sytronix variable speed hydraulic drives integrate easily

Energy efficient hydraulic drives use high-efficiency pumps and variable speed motors. These designs offer higher machine performance along with significantly reduced power consumption.

Along with the productivity of a machine, energy consumption is increasingly a factor in the purchase decision. A hydraulic drive using variable speed pump capabilities offers the potential of significant energy savings. This new technology can provide an OEM with a solution requiring minimal engineering effort and ease of implementation. Bosch Rexroth Sytronix variable speed hydraulic drives offer such a solution.

Machine drives must often perform a number of complex tasks. While there are many approaches to solve these tasks, design engineers look to solutions that can also save energy. Solutions should offer savings from the selection of components to the engineering design and start-up. Bosch Rexroth’s design experience can provide an integrated solution from one source: Sytronix drives. Sytronix drives from Rexroth combine high efficiency hydraulic pumps with state-of-the-art electric drives. In addition, control software, matched to the unique requirements of the machine, is implemented in a best-in-class controller. The hydraulic drive package provides the design engineer with an integrated, ready-to-install, pre-configured solution. Machine performance is optimized without having the machine designer bogged down in the details of the hydraulic drive.

When selecting a Sytronix drive designed for a specific machine task, Bosch Rexroth has the industry expertise needed to find the best solutions. For example, if a machine requires clamping or gripping, 14 drive systems using the FcP 5000 series are available. Using one of these solutions, F/V drives combined with high efficiency pumps provide demand-driven hydraulic power. For more demanding applications, such as plastic machinery and forming technology, Rexroth offers 47 pre-configured hydraulic drives in the SvP 7000 series. These drives provide a wide range of performance in five classes utilizing unique combinations of electric servo motors and high efficiency pumps. More than 80 drives in the DFEn 5000 product line offer solutions for axis drives requiring higher power. Combining an intelligent pump, unique to Bosch Rexroth, and electronic controls that regulate the pump’s displacement and drive motor speed, full four quadrant operation is obtained.

Using Bosch Rexroth Sytronix hydraulic drives can reduce power consumption by up to 80 percent, while maintaining the same level of productivity. Additionally hydraulic drive noise emissions can be reduced by up to 20 dB (A), cooling requirements are greatly reduced and the overall life of the hydraulic drive is increased.
