Hydraulics for deep-sea equipment developed and tested by Rexroth

Rexroth is the first to adapt numerous standard components to fit the special requirements for deep-sea applications. These modifications ensure stability and reliability in practice, as well as a long service life. Rexroth's specialists also assist users in designing their hydraulic systems for deep-sea equipment. Using a special test aggregate, which contains all of the essential components, Rexroth was able to demonstrate suitability of its hydraulic components down to 6,000 meters below sea level. The test aggregate is equipped with a water-proof motor/pump assembly that can drive an axial piston motor and hydraulic cylinders via an encapsulated valve control. The hydraulic system comes in a pressure-compensated design.

Continuous jacking systems for increased productivity and safety

The market for wind energy puts challenging additional demands on traditional jacking systems for installation and maintenance vessels and platforms. Besides the increasing loads at a specific load spectrum, high jacking speeds, daily jacking operations and a larger window of operations throughout the year are required due to compelling economics. With Bosch Rexroth’s latest development, the continuous jacking system for safer, more reliable and more effective installation and maintenance of wind farms, wind energy gains yet another impulse. Rexroth also delivers drive and control solutions including planetary gearboxes for jacking systems based on rack-and-pinion technologies.

Ruling the Waves: Marine Lifting Safer and Quicker

Barge Master develops and produces motion-compensated platforms for offshore lifting operations: A most promising new type of working platform that can help solve the age-old problem of sea-induced motions during offshore installation work. The Barge Master features a broad range of applications. Essentially all marine lifting operations up to 500 t can be performed safer, quicker, and at lower costs. The Barge Master is based on a close partnership in engineering and production with Bosch Rexroth. Recently, the contract for the production of the first C400 Barge Master was signed. The C400 can carry a 400t crane, or, alternatively compensate loads up to 700 mt when used as a supply platform. All Drive and Control components of the Barge Master will be produced by Rexroth.

Enduroq: Surface Technologies for Large Hydraulic Cylinders

Large hydraulic cylinders are widely used in offshore applications, like wire line tensioners, direct riser tensioners, heave compensation, skidding, deck mating and jacking. The piston rod surface of these engineer-to-order products is one of the most critical parts of the hydraulic installation with a potentially large impact on uptime and Total Cost of Ownership. Therefore, it has been the main driver for product innovation over many years; Bosch Rexroth being one of the pioneers in this field. With Enduroq as new brand name for all of its existing and future surface technologies, Rexroth introduces a total concept for selecting, engineering and producing the best surface technology for every application in every single industry. The concept for Enduroq is based on the acclaimed JIP-industry standard which Bosch Rexroth helped to develop. With more than 50 years of experience and service data feedback from the largest installed cylinder base in the world, in combination with an extensive research program and the newest production technologies, Bosch Rexroth sets new engineering and production standards for surface technologies in large hydraulic cylinders.

Integration of Hägglunds Drives completed

As of January 1, 2011 an even stronger team will be found under the Bosch Rexroth brand with Hägglunds Drives now fully integrated into Bosch Rexroth. Bosch Rexroth acquired Hägglunds Drives in 2008. Bosch Rexroth can now offer an even larger scope in terms of experience, technological expertise, know-how, solutions, and local and global service throughout the combined international network. The Hägglunds name will still be found on the tough and reliable large hydraulic Hägglunds system solutions that now are a part of the strong Bosch Rexroth portfolio. Bosch Rexroth will continue to produce the excellent system solutions in Mellansel, Sweden.
