To keep customer start-ups on track and to avoid assembly delays Bosch Rexroth Corporation, Bethlehem, PA, and Goodwill Keystone Area, Allentown, PA, team up to keep orders error-free.

(Bethlehem, PA – www.boschrexroth-us.com ) To ensure that sales orders always arrive at a customer’s location with the required installation hardware, such as bolts, washers and seals, Bosch Rexroth worked closely with Goodwill Keystone Area (Goodwill) to develop a new “kitting” system. The loose hardware components that are typically delivered with Rexroth’s hydraulics products are now pre-assembled into kit packages that can easily be included with customer shipments, eliminating the possibility of parts shortages and potential downtime issues.

From its Bethlehem campus, Bosch Rexroth manufactures hydraulic components and systems used in construction and agricultural mobile equipment, machine tools, presses, plastics machinery, die casting, marine and offshore, pulp and paper, test machinery, and other specialty machinery.

“After a thorough supplier analysis and site review, we determined that Goodwill had what we were looking for. The spirit and professional approach displayed by their workforce confirmed to us that an efficient solution could be provided by Goodwill,” said Pete Sovia, Direct Material Buyer, Bosch Rexroth Corporation. To prove that they could handle the job, Goodwill provided 100 sample kits that were assembled on time and with perfect quality.

To date, the full outsourcing of three different kit assemblies, totaling more than 2,000 pieces, has been processed flawlessly by Goodwill. Additionally, the final kits assembled by Goodwill are returned in Bosch Rexroth storage containers which are then delivered directly back to the product stocking area, eliminating any extra handling by Bosch Rexroth and streamlining the whole process. And most importantly, Bosch Rexroth customers receive the product without any missing pieces.

Greg Cunningham, Director of Goodwill’s Allentown facility said, “Goodwill Keystone Area is proud to partner with Bosch Rexroth in supporting their kitting operation. The work opportunities provided acknowledge the value Bosch Rexroth places on utilizing the talents of people who have disabilities, or other barriers to employment, to contributing to their mission and to ours. The work that Bosch Rexroth provides gives our client trainees a sense of dignity and self-worth that comes with being productive. We extend our appreciation and recognition of Bosch Rexroth as a world-class company for helping those we serve to live, to work and to enjoy life in our community.”
