Bosch Rexroth to exhibit cabinet free technologies for the packaging industry at PACK EXPO 2015

Rexroth at PACK Expo 2015

Cabinet-free technologies from Bosch Rexroth open up valuable floor space and can help reduce wiring by up to 90%.

Demonstrations of cabinet-free technologies, motion and control products, along with in-depth working presentations of versatile conveyors, anti-slosh and anti-vibration systems will be shown at booth S-6127 at PACK EXPO 2015 in Las Vegas, September 28-30.

During PACK EXPO 2015, applications experts from Bosch Rexroth will exhibit the latest automation technology for next generation packaging machinery. These machines are cabinet-free, adaptive, efficient, and ready for Industry 4.0. Rexroth’s booth will highlight vibration-damping strategies, cabinet-free drive and power supply technology, flexible packaging conveyors, integrated safety and other solutions to help equip packaging machines for next generation requirements.

IndraDrive Mi cabinet-free drive technology: more production with less space

Rexroth’s IndraDrive Mi features maximum flexibility and efficiency for machine engineers and operators. Featuring cabinet-free drives and power supply, the solution saves space and energy. By eliminating drive electronics from the cabinet, a more compact controls enclosure can be mounted directly to the machine – freeing up valuable floor space and reducing wiring by up to 90 percent.

The newest generation features additional safety functions, extended communication options and intelligent control functions making it more useful and versatile than ever before.

Adaptive Systems: control movement for more productivity

Rexroth Adaptive Systems technology in the company’s IndraMotion MLD motion controllers provides the intelligence to apply vibration damping and avoidance control methods, which can increase throughput and extend machine life, in applications where sloshing, vibration and sway cause problems. Adaptive Systems technology can extend machine life, increase throughput by up to 50 percent and improve productivity by up to 40 percent.

VarioFlow plus: modular and flexible packaging conveyors

Rexroth’s VarioFlow plus offers a number of standardized options for a variety of application requirements with maximum interchangeability and modularity. To simplify selection and combination of the modules, Rexroth offers its MTpro planning software with Layout Designer . Users can design conveyors and even complex multi-conveyor and workstation systems, select components and output the results to CAD.

Additionally, valuable time can be saved during commissioning. The clever drive solution provides a great degree of planning freedom, and the motor mounting position can be chosen on-site. This reduces the selection of drive variants.

Electromechanical cylinder from Rexroth: powerful with a hygienic design

With the second generation EMC electromechanical cylinder , Rexroth expands the possibilities for utilizing compact drive units. With their hygienic design and IP65 protection class, they are now also suitable for applications with frequent cleaning cycles, such as those in the food industry. An optional force sensor allows decentralized process controls without a higher-level control system.

The available options in the newest generation allow for a long service life even when operated in demanding environments. The powerful EMC works extremely efficiently and economically at all times, making it a popular alternative to pneumatic linear drive systems.

During PACK EXPO 2015, engineers from Bosch Rexroth will also present Mechatronics @ Work, a demonstration platform created to showcase Rexroth drive and control technology and key mechatronics design and engineering principles.

As a leader in motion, drive and control solutions for the packaging and processing industries, Bosch Rexroth has pioneered innovative developments in mechatronics concepts and engineering approaches. The trade show exhibit -- which carries out functions like conveying, pick and place and robotic motion -- was created to showcase how effective mechatronics solutions utilize key principles such as energy efficiency, precision, modularity, ease of programming and operation, and intelligent integration.

The fully working system demonstrates functionality such as multi-axis motion, conveying and product transfer, advanced motion control and other automation tasks commonly required in applications such as case packing, collating and sortation.
