Powerful Bosch Rexroth Drive System Now Certified for Marine Applications

Rexroth IndraDrive ML

These space-saving, modular inverters can be used for a variety of marine and offshore applications.

Now certified for marine and offshore industries, Rexroth’s IndraDrive ML extends the IndraDrive series into the upper power range. With a voltage range of 400 V to 690 V, Rexroth expands the range of uses of IndraDrive ML drives for outputs up to four megawatts.

When developing application-specific, modular machines is the ultimate goal. As it is in the marine and offshore industries, it can be challenging to find the right products to get the job done. Not anymore – Bosch Rexroth’s IndraDrive ML is now certified as a marine drive with certifications according to ship classification authorities DNV GL, ABS and LR. Applications include trawler and anchor winches as well as hoist, slewing and luffing drives for ship cranes.

The IndraDrive ML’s voltage range of 400 V to 690 V complies with the industry demand of 690 V. These space-saving, modular universal inverters generate drive power between 110 kW and 500 kW per device, and in parallel connection of up to eight devices up to four MW.

The IndraDrive ML can be operated as a smart power supply with energy-recovery capacity, a variable frequency inverter or as high performance motor inverters for synchronous and asynchronous motors. This flexibility minimizes variants, simplifies handling and reduces storage costs for OEMs and end users. A wide variety of energy efficient concepts for storing energy in static or rotary configurations as well as a Smart Energy Mode and further options are available for saving energy and reducing peak loads in the power grid.

These universal inverters are particularly suitable for complex multi-axis applications. Drive-based motion logic solutions regulate synchronized movements via their own intelligence, even without higher-level control units. The certified safety technology reduces engineering effort for standard-compliant machine safety. With a multi-Ethernet interface for all common communication protocols and one multi-encoder interface, the drives seamlessly integrate even into heterogeneous automation environments.
