Bosch Rexroth to display Smart Mechatronics demo at NPE 2018

Smart Mecatronics

Interactive, fully functional smart mechatronics exhibit demonstrates new capabilities in Rexroth’s EasyHandling framework for fast easy planning and implementation of mechatronic systems.

Visitors to booth #S18113 at the National Plastic Expo (NPE) will have an opportunity to explore the future of mechatronics with Rexroth’s Smart Mechatronics display. Combining high-performance mechanical technologies and motion control systems with open, user-friendly programming environments, Rexroth’s EasyHandling framework lets users create the most accessible, connected, easy-to-use Cartesian motion robots.

As one of the featured displays in Rexroth’s NPE booth, the company’s Smart Mechatronics display shows how users can easily create custom mechatronic systems as part of a smart automation strategy. Using a simple flashlight assembly process to show the functionalities of different Rexroth products, the display will show:

• Precision point-to-point transport and control on Rexroth’s VarioFlow plus Conveyor systems powered by Rexroth EFC variable frequency drives;

• Fast, accurate positioning by Rexroth’s Compact Modules CKK in the X and Y axis, with fast pick-and-place by Bell-Everman’s Z axis servobelt linear and Theta axis rotary actuators;

• How to collect and visualize automation system data in real time, thanks to Rexroth’s IoT Gateway and IndraControl XM, and Bosch XDK sensors to monitor vibration and temperature in the running system.

System data will be displayed on a handheld tablet, and a second tablet will show how easy it is to program system motion with Rexroth’s EasyMotion Test Drive—an Excel-based motion control program developed with Rexroth’s Open Core Interface. Visitors will also see how to use EasyMotion Test Drive to operate the display, teach points and jog positions.

In addition to the outstanding connectivity features, a highlight in this display are Bell-Everman’s high-performance servobelt linear motion actuator SBL and rotary motion actuators, now sold by Bosch Rexroth and its distribution network throughout the U.S. The new SBL and SBR offer users high-precision and fast motion at a fraction of the cost of competing technologies. Additional featured products include Rexroth’s IndraDrive CS servo drives and MSM servo motors, as well as Rexroth’s high-performance aluminum structural framing system.
