Upgrade for Motion-Logic systems of Rexroth: New functions for efficient engineering

With the latest system version of IndraMotion MLC and IndraLogic XLC, Rexroth increases the efficiency in engineering and opens up new degrees of freedom for innovative functions.

Get to safer and more flexible control solutions faster

With the latest system version of IndraMotion MLC and IndraLogic XLC, Rexroth increases the efficiency in engineering and opens up new degrees of freedom for innovative functions. The upgrade comprises, among other things, simplifications in machine safety, robotics and hydraulics integration. With the software environment Open Core Engineering and the new interface technology Open Core Interface, machine manufacturers can also access the control core and independently implement individual functions. To this end, a number of programming languages based on high-level languages is available to them.

The software creation assumes an increasing part in added value in machinery construction and determines the development duration of new, innovative machine concepts more and more. The control and drive manufacturer Bosch Rexroth accelerates the engineering of machine programs with open standard, software tools and function toolkits.

The current system version 13 simplifies the standard-compliant implementation of functional safety. The safety function module for Rexroth controls completes the standard controls IndraMotion MLC and IndraLogic XLC with the safety PLC SafeLogic. It takes over safe logic functions to PLe/Kat. 4 according to ISO 13849 or SIL3 according to IEC 62061. With CIP Safety on Sercos, safety data can be transferred safely on the same medium and through the same activation as standard communication. An additional wiring for a safety bus is eliminated. Particularly interesting: The Rexroth safety solution works “feedback-free”. Changes in the standard solution have no effect on safety control.

Implement motion sequences faster

More and more end users order machines as a complete solution with coordinating loading and unloading systems. The function toolkit “Robot Control” simplifies the programming of such handling systems through the kinematics interface. Programmers have to create up to 90 percent less code manually. This saves time and reduces the error rate.

Already predefined hydraulics functions reduce the complexity in the mixed operation of electrical and hydraulic actuators. The commissioning engineer only needs to set the parameters for the pre-programmed controls for speed, position and power, as well as for variable-speed pump drives. He/she does not need detailed hydraulics knowledge, because Rexroth has already taken all particularities of the fluid technology in the software.

High-level language programming with direct access to the control core

The new software environment Open Core Engineering with its innovative interface technology Open Core Interface builds the bridge between the automation and the IT world. Now, with a variety of high level languages and operating systems, machinery manufacturers can create independent individual functions that access the core of the Rexroth controls. The programs run in parallel to the firmware directly on the control unit as well as on external devices. With this capability, machinery manufacturers can now, for example, also fully integrate smart devices into automation and take advantage of their innovative operational interface capabilities. No changes in the PLC programming are necessary for this.
