Bosch Rexroth plans to take over Maestranza Diesel hydraulics business

Company strengthens presence in South America

Santiago de Chile, Chile – Bosch Rexroth plans to acquire the hydraulics business unit of Maestranza Diesel S.A., which is located in Santiago de Chile. Agreements to this effect were signed on May 14th, 2014.

“With this acquisition, Bosch Rexroth is strengthening its activities as a solutions provider in the industrial automation sector in South America,” says Karl Tragl, the president of Bosch Rexroth AG. Maestranza Diesel is a Bosch Rexroth distributor and service provider for mainly mobile applications such as hydraulic motors, pumps, and valves, and also provides field service and spare parts for the Chilean mining and construction industries. The takeover is subject to final approval by the authorities in relevant jurisdictions.

“Bosch Rexroth’s long-term partner Maestranza Diesel has excellent knowledge of the local market as well as direct market access via its own, well-established sales network, allowing quick response time and on-site support for our Chilean customers, especially in key sectors such as mining and civil engineering. In Chile, these segments in particular have very good growth prospects for the coming years,” says Manfred Al-Kayal, General Manager of Bosch Rexroth in South America.

Bosch Rexroth has had subsidiaries in South America since 1964, and has sales and distribution locations in Argentina, Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, and Brazil, as well as a production site in Pomerode, Brazil. The integration of Maestranza’s hydraulics business and of its five different sales and service locations in Chile will put Bosch Rexroth in the ideal position to serve the needs of its key customers in the region.
