The most powerful of its class

Based on the tried-and-tested Hägglunds marathon motor, the Hägglunds CBM offers 50 percent more torque, and is up to 50 percent lighter and smaller than its predecessor.

Rexroth presents the most powerful direct drive ever

In ship technology, as in many other industry sectors, increasingly higher demands are being placed on power. The new Hägglunds CBM motor was developed especially to meet these customer requirements. It delivers enough power for a range of applications. Compared to its predecessor, the Hägglunds CBM offers 50 percent more torque at 6000 Nm/bar, and is 50 percent smaller and lighter. This makes it the most powerful direct drive in the world.

The motor's performance data opens up new possibilities for users. It can cope with extremely heavy working loads, doesn't take up as much space, and with it being 50 percent lighter, the output shaft has less weight to deal with. Machines and in part also the equipment used can be made smaller, lighter and less complicated. Lower installation requirements combined with the higher productivity of the motor mean that users don't have to invest as much. What's more, users benefit from the operational advantages offered by a hydraulic direct drive – maximum torque from a standstill, overload protection, and four-quadrant operation.

More power for increasing requirements

The motor is based on the tried-and-tested Hägglunds CB platform and has a specific torque of 6000 Nm/bar. "With the Hägglunds CBM motor we can in future offer the benefits of hydraulic motors for a wider range of applications than ever before," says Lars Andrén from the Hägglunds CBM development team. For example, winches equipped with the motor can handle higher loads than ever before. In the field of tidal energy, the drives represent an alternative to turbines.

The Hägglunds CBM motor features keyways which make attaching the motor to the drive shaft easier, thereby simplifying installation of the entire system. Alternatively, shrink disk adapters are also available. For users of the previous Hägglunds marathon motors, Rexroth provides optimization sets for subsequent upgrades. These allow quick and easy motor replacement in existing machines.

Intelligent hydraulics for increased availability

Connected hydraulics increase the availability of machinery and plants through condition monitoring and predictive maintenance. For this purpose, Rexroth offers scalable solutions, from individual units with local evaluation to the complete, cloud-based monitoring of large plants. Sensors measure all relevant operating conditions and software detects wear before it leads to failure. Retrofitting kits also economically integrate already installed plants into these concepts.

Linear motion, short time to market

Stand-alone linear axes are the trend. The combination of electrical drive unit and mechanical or hydraulic cylinder reduces installation space and engineering time and combines our specific professional knowledge in one system. With ready-to-mount and i4.0-enabled solution packages, Bosch Rexroth is in line with the current market requirements regarding electrification, digitalization and monitoring as well as condition-based maintenance. The uniform control and drive concept which is used in the different technologies serves as a basis for a short time to market and the economical implementation of hybrid solutions.
