Power density times two: shortest double pump on the market

With a an installation length of only 440 mm, the new size 130 Rexroth A28VO double pump sets a record for compactness.

The new size of the A28VO axial piston variable double pump from Rexroth sets new standards in compactness and efficiency.

  • The A28VO from Rexroth reduces diesel consumption of excavators and other machines with increased total efficiency
  • The new size 130 is up to 20 percent shorter than conventional hydraulic pumps

With the shortest double pump available on the market for implement hydraulics, Rexroth leaves more space for the diesel engine and the exhaust gas after-treatment components in excavators. The Rexroth A28VO size 130 is up to 20 percent shorter than similar pumps available in the market. Thanks to the increase in total efficiency of three to five percent and to the 20 bar increase in permissible nominal pressure and maximum pressure, it generates the same work performance while requiring less energy. That reduces the diesel consumption of excavators and contributes to lower operating costs.

With an installation length of only 440 mm for the size 130 (twice 130 cm³), the double pump sets a new record for compactness. In addition, Rexroth has developed new, highly efficient rotary groups and realized a through-drive compatible pilot pressure pump. But, the A28VO opens up further potential for saving fitment space and costs: Manufacturers of construction equipment can install additional pumps, for example for a fan drive, directly on the pump without the need for a splitter gearbox, which would otherwise be necessary.

The new construction is based on the tried and tested swashplate design and is characterized by a three to five percent higher total efficiency, in comparison with conventional pumps. Furthermore, Rexroth has increased the nominal pressure to 380 bar and the maximum pressure to 420 bar. Thanks to this 20 bar increase in pressure level, the A28VO transmits the same hydraulic performance with a lower volume flow, and flow rate losses are reduced at the same time. In doing this, the pump achieves the same work performance with a lower diesel engine power output. That reduces the diesel consumption and therefore the operating costs of excavators, mobile cranes and drilling equipment. Since the broad portfolio of controllers (power, pressure, proportional), as well as sensors, through drives and mounting flanges, ensures a wide field of application of the double pumps, which are also available in the size 280 (twice 280 cm³).

Intelligent hydraulics for increased availability

Connected hydraulics increase the availability of machinery and plants through condition monitoring and predictive maintenance. For this purpose, Rexroth offers scalable solutions, from individual units with local evaluation to the complete, cloud-based monitoring of large plants. Sensors measure all relevant operating conditions and software detects wear before it leads to failure. Retrofitting kits also economically integrate already installed plants into these concepts.

Linear motion, short time to market

Stand-alone linear axes are the trend. The combination of electrical drive unit and mechanical or hydraulic cylinder reduces installation space and engineering time and combines our specific professional knowledge in one system. With ready-to-mount and i4.0-enabled solution packages, Bosch Rexroth is in line with the current market requirements regarding electrification, digitalization and monitoring as well as condition-based maintenance. The uniform control and drive concept which is used in the different technologies serves as a basis for a short time to market and the economical implementation of hybrid solutions.
