Pneumatic cylinder for flexible transport tasks

RTC cylinder with intermediate-stop kit

RTC cylinder with intermediate-stop kit

Almost as flexible as an electric axis, but as compact and robust as a conventional pneumatic solution: for the RTC rodless cylinder with intermediate stop, Bosch Rexroth pneumatic specialists have combined two key aspects for designers. The RTC makes one or more freely definable intermediate stops and then continues moving in the same direction.

Gripping a workpiece, moving it to an intermediate stop for transport and then forwarding it to the next processing position: this classical task for electric drives is now also handled by the Rexroth RTC rodless pneumatic cylinder. Users can mechanically define one or more intermediate stops by mounting the carrying plate of the intermediate-stop switch on the cylinder body. The cylinder moves precisely to the defined position with a maximum deviation of 0.2 mm. Without the retraction movement needed with other pneumatic solutions, the RTC continues moving in the same direction. This flexibility is remarkable in pneumatics.

The robust yet compact cylinders of the RTC series cover stroke lengths up to 9900 mm. With a static operating load of up to 14000 N, they attain a high load-bearing capacity even for transverse forces – by using an oval cylinder shape. Depending on the application, pneumatic cushioning or integrated hydraulic shock absorbers can be configured. Users can exchange the shock absorbers during operation without losing position. To extend the service life, a third, pneumatic shock absorber is employed for intermediate stops.

The guide cylinders fit seamlessly into the EasyHandling system using the Easy-2-Combine interface. The direct interlocking connection technique reduces assembly and initial-startup effort, because there is no need for a complex fine adjustment of the axis.
