Profiled rail systems and screw drives perfectly sized

The Linear Motion Designer 2.1 from Rexroth allows users to design and optimize linear motion systems to suit the task at hand.

New calculation program from Rexroth for design tailored to the task at hand

Rexroth's new version of the calculation program Linear Motion Designer 2.1 makes it easier to design profiled rail systems and screw drives independently. Process data such as dynamics, masses and forces only need to be entered once; users can then configure and compare a range of variants and design their solution optimally for the application at hand in both technical and economic terms.

The design program calculates a range of variants with one or several profiled rail systems and runner blocks as well as screw drives. The software automatically performs a shift calculation for solutions with two guide rails. Thanks to the integrated function for entering lateral accelerations, users can also design multiaxis profiled rail systems flexibly for up to three axes.

The tool also takes into account additional process parameters such as heat balance in planetary screw drives, and displays necessary pause times. An automatic deduction factor provides additional security in short stroke applications. Since users are able to define dynamic defaults over a flexible cycle comprising times and distances, requirements are modelled realistically. The program immediately generates a corresponding visualization during calculation, which can then be converted to a format that matches customer-specific coordinate systems.

Once the software has been downloaded, the new update function ensures that the program and the integrated database are automatically updated. This covers Rexroth's entire range of roller, ball and miniature rail systems as well as its ball and planetary screw drives. The Linear Motion Designer 2.1 is available in German, English, French, Spanish and Chinese. In addition to detailed training courses provided by the Drive & Control Academy, Rexroth sales employees offer an on-site introduction to the program.

Digital engineering in Linear Motion Technology: Rexroth is expanding its range of eTools

What do the configuration of a Linear Motion System and online shopping have in common? In the case of Bosch Rexroth, the answer is easy: Thanks to numerous intuitive eTools, selecting, dimensioning and ordering components and systems for Linear Motion Technology is just as easy and convenient as shopping online in general. Because while you used to have to trawl through parts catalogues and look up the right material numbers, the majority of this is now done by online configurators and engineering tools. In order that machine and system designers can also benefit from more efficient workflows in the future, Rexroth is constantly redeveloping its range of digital tools and ensures new functions and even better handling with its updates.
