Well protected from harsh environmental conditions

Large hydraulic cylinders are often exposed to harsh environmental conditions. The selection of the surface coating for the piston rod is of special importance. The Enduroq surface technology by Rexroth offers optimum protection and thereby extends the uptime of cylinders. The operator’s life cycle costs decrease.

Large hydraulic cylinders are used in numerous offshore applications, like riser tensioning, heave compensation, skidding, deck mating and jacking. The surface of the piston rod is one of the most important elements of the hydraulic installation, since it has to stand up to the harsh environmental conditions and protects the cylinder from wear and corrosion. In the correct combination with hydraulic medium and sealing concept the selection of the surface has a large impact on the eventual uptime of the hydraulic system and life cycle costs.

Enduroq by Rexroth provides an integrated concept for the selection, engineering and manufacturing of the ideal surface technology in any industry and application. In the context of this concept development Bosch Rexroth analysed operating and service data of the complete inventory of installed cylinders – the largest installed base in the world.

In addition to already existing surface technologies series, Enduroq 2000 (thermally sprayed) and Enduroq 3000 (based on Ultimet) the new series Enduroq 3200, a double-coated, Ultimet based and therefore high performance surface technology has become available. The series was especially developed for offshore splash water zones for example for Direct Riser Tensioners. Enduroq reliably protects offshore hydraulics from corrosion and wear. Manufacturers profit from a longer useful life and lower life cycle costs.
