Reliable Maritime Automation in Offshore

Maritime control systems

Maritime control systems cater for innovative propulsion concepts in maritime automation.

Maritime automation for innovative propulsion concepts and seamless safety

  • Safe handling of complex propulsion systems
  • Clear display of key propulsion parameters
  • Products planned and classified for individual customers

With innovative propulsion and auxiliary safety systems, technical progress in maritime engineering significantly enhances the performance and maneuverability of marine vessels. It also results in increased complexity for skippers. These changes make the human-machine interface all the more important, especially offshore. It needs to clearly represent as much information and as many functions as possible, and reliably transmit the skipper’s commands to actuators. Marex, the versatile maritime control systems family from Rexroth, utilizes a modular concept to implement these requirements. Design specialists assist in the ergonomic adaptation of user interfaces to vessel-specific equipment.

From simple reversing gears to controllable pitch propellers, water jets, rudder propellers, serial or parallel hybrid propulsion trains: Modern shipbuilding implements a wide range of propulsion systems in all vessel classes. Ship control systems need to integrate the features of a variety of systems as well as the vessel itself. The modular design of the Marex product family in hardware and software enables individual configurations regardless of which propulsion system or manufacturer you choose. Planned, preset solutions with classification society approval simplify the use of propulsion systems for both commercial and recreational navigation.

Every propulsion aggregate, from the generator to the main propulsion machinery, also requires a reliable safety system. With Marex AMC, the comprehensive Marex range takes on alarm, monitoring and control functions. The decentral data collection system monitors safety-relevant operating data and assumes numerous other functions, including ship automation with door surveillance and visualization of fire alarms. The monitoring system also processes video signals. Ergonomically trained specialists from Rexroth support shipbuilders with the project-specific design of the user interface. They also integrate application graphics, for example, to ensure a clear overview of all data.
