Bosch Rexroth part of a research TEAM for energy-saving mobile machines

Nearly all mobile machinery manufacturers are currently looking for drive and working hydraulics concepts that make it possible to meet the new off-highway emissions regulations according to the European Stage IV and the U.S. TIER 4 Final.

The development work is now receiving support from a research project funded by the German federal government entitled "Development of Technologies for Energy-Saving Mobile Machine Drives", also known as TEAM. Mobile machinery manufacturers and their suppliers, including Bosch Rexroth, are working on the project to reduce diesel consumption – and thus exhaust emissions – by at least one fifth. The HVT (Hydromechanical Variable Transmission) contributes to that goal with up to 20% fuel savings, e.g. for wheel loaders. In October 2011, Bosch Rexroth and the Dana Holding Corporation established the Dana Rexroth Transmission Systems joint venture for the development and production of these transmissions.

As the world market leader for equipping mobile machines with drive and working hydraulics, Bosch Rexroth has been working on solutions for the excavator, wheel loader, or tractor of the future for years. They must consume less fuel but operate at least at the same level of performance to maintain the same level of productivity. Using the Rexroth 4EE (for Energy Efficiency) system, Bosch Rexroth developers are working on numerous innovations. In addition to innovative components like the HVT, they are also focusing on an "electronification" of hydraulics. The combination of the diesel engine control unit with the digital hydraulic control unit enables need-based power generation that enables direct fuel savings. Developers in Germany, Asia, and the USA are working in close collaboration with the electronic specialists at Bosch, the world's leading motor control unit manufacturer.

Bosch Rexroth AG is one of the world’s leading specialists in the field of drive and control technologies.
