Bosch Rexroth's GoGreen project focuses on a double strategy to lower the energy consumption and CO2 emissions.

  • ZF Friedrichshafen AG awards the Supplier Award in the "Year of Energy"
  • Bosch Rexroth wins through its holistic approach

Bosch Rexroth, the drive and control specialist, was able to outperform 30 participants from around the globe in the final round of the ZF Energy Efficiency Awards on 13 September. The Supplier Award is part of the automotive supplier's current Campaign Year which focuses on energy. "The winning project Rexroth Go Green has convinced us through its holistic approach", says Rainer Wiedmann, head of central purchasing of operational supplies at ZF. The award ceremony will take place on 6 December 2012, during the Management Symposium in Friedrichshafen.

"We are very happy about our award and the appreciation of our project that goes along with it" says Leo Pototzky, Bosch Rexroth's Project Manager of Energy Efficiency and CO2 Reduction after the decision in Saarbrücken.

When it comes to energy efficiency, Bosch Rexroth relies on a double strategy.

First, all companies of the Bosch Group have undertaken to lower the CO2 emissions in all the plants around the globe by 20 per cent by 2020. In the context of the Rexroth GoGreen project, dedicated specialists do not only analyze the infrastructure and the machines to save energy and to lower CO2 emissions. They also take into account the choice of the energy source and a potential use of renewable energies. The creation of combined heat supply systems, the storage of energy or the power generation from waste heat lead to further savings.

At the same time, Bosch Rexroth is developing automation solutions that support machinery manufacturers and industrial users on their way to more energy efficiency. The extensive know-how is combined in the 4EE - Rexroth for Energy Efficiency system. "Our system comprises four levers and is also applied in the context of our GoGreen project", explains Leo Pototzky. "The first lever consists of the systematic overall view of complete automation with project planning, simulation, and consulting. Energy efficient products and systems with optimized efficiency constitute a further approach. The third lever consists of recovery, storage, and usage of previously unused energies. That includes e.g. hydraulic storage-load switches or recovery-capable drives. Energy on demand, e.g. as variable speed pump drives, offers a particularly high degree of savings and is the fourth lever of the system".

The Energy Efficency Award is awarded by ZF Friedrichshafen AG in the context of the "Year of Energy". 30 international suppliers of the automotive supplier for driveline and chassis technology participated. The EFMCo (Energy & Facility Management Comitee) project team of ZF Friedrichshafen AG functioned as the judges. The award ceremony for the ZF Energy Efficiency Awards will take place on 6 December 2012, during the Management Symposium in Friedrichshafen.
