Bosch introduces new concept for Industry 4.0

New level of freedom when accessing IT services

New level of freedom when accessing IT services

Bosch Rexroth and Bosch Software Innovations show how an entire concept such as Industry 4.0 can be implemented in practice. Vertical networking, or the networking of machinery and equipment levels up to business processes and planning levels is a significant building block on the journey towards the digital factory and Industry 4.0. With the interplay of motion logic system IndraMotion MLC and the business rules management components of the Bosch IoT Suite, users are given new opportunities and freedom to combine machine events and IT processes using rules and services.

The aim of this concept is to give users in production access to automated business processes, even those without programming knowledge. This means the machine user creates models for the required rules using intuitive graphic tools and then ports these to the controller. Thanks to the functionality of Open Core Engineering, these rules run alongside the classic PLC program directly on the controller. During production, machine data such as machinery, quality or operating data is analyzed and generates information relevant to decisions for business processes such as automatic material supply or machine optimization. Depending on the particular machine condition or system event, automatically defined actions are carried out, such as e-mail distribution or IT service requests.

The user remains flexible, even during the runtime: The user can change existing rules at any time, create a model for new rules and transfer these onto the controller even during operation. In this way, individual adjustments can be made dynamically and, above all, without making machine program changes. This concept shows the simple integration of systems in the environment of Industry 4.0.

This solution allows a user-friendly introduction to the world of networking production with open interfaces and easy operation. This cooperation project will be introduced during Hannover Messe 2015 at the joint stands of Bosch Software Innovations and Bosch Rexroth in hall 7/E04 and at the SmartFactory KL stand in hall 8/D20.
