Safe, Reliable, and Efficient

Rexroth and Bosch Engineering GmbH as system providers for rail vehicles

High operating safety and reliability under all conditions, together with low energy consumption and emissions, are among the high requirements placed on systems and components used in rail vehicles. As a long-time partner to the rail industry, Rexroth has developed and supplied custom solutions and components optimized for the special conditions under which this equipment is used. Rexroth's range of services is complemented by the systems, components and engineering know-how offered by Bosch Engineering GmbH.

Low-noise and compact traction cooling systems

Rexroth provides assistance to manufacturers of rail vehicles right from the project planning phase by designing and building optimum cooling systems, whereby both hydraulic and electrical solutions are available. The result is target-oriented cooling that covers arctic temperatures, desert climates, travel into the rail station and operation under full-load conditions. Active traction cooling systems developed by Rexroth, with regulated hydrostatic or electric fan drive and intelligent control, generate the level of cooling required while reducing emissions and energy consumption.

Everything on the move with hydraulic and pneumatic drive solutions

Be it fans, compressors, or generator drives, Rexroth's comprehensive offering of hydraulic pumps and motors provides a solution for almost any performance requirement at any location. Finely scalable in function and output, these components are the perfect match for diesel-powered rail vehicles. The distribution, regulation and controllability of hydraulic power increase the energy efficiency of additional, auxiliary drives. Specialists at Rexroth consult with manufacturers to gain the input necessary to design optimal components and link them to higher-level engine management electronics not only for equipping new vehicles, but also for repowering projects. Auxiliary drives thus help keep rail vehicles moving and productive.

Rexroth also supplies pneumatic components tailored to meet the requirements of a variety of applications. These include tilting equipment for freight cars and door-actuation devices. To this end, Rexroth offers integrated component solutions. And, because rail vehicles have a high service life, dedicated replacement part programs are every bit a matter of course as is service provided around the world.

Customized Engineering, with the Bosch product range

Bosch Engineering GmbH offers custom systems and components as well as engineering services for rail vehicles. Specifically, the company focuses on developing customized solutions for electronics systems and components – from initial concept studies through to certified, series-production programs. In developing and integrating these innovative solutions in speed and surround sensing applications, driver assistance systems, engine management and exhaust-gas treatment, the specialists at Bosch Engineering make use of the development know-how and proven series-production technologies of Bosch to realize targeted results for rail vehicles. The finalized systems and components lower operating costs, increase reliability and improved performance while reducing emissions in line with customer requirements.

Bosch Rexroth AG is one of the world’s leading specialists in the field of drive and control technologies. Under the brand name of Rexroth the company supplies more than 500,000 customers with tailored solutions for driving, controlling and moving. Bosch Rexroth is a partner for industrial applications and factory automation, mobile applications and using renewable energies.
