Reliably prevent cavitation

Now also for larger motors with higher flows: the new counterbalance valves from Rexroth reduce the risks of overspeed and cavitation.

New counterbalance valves from Rexroth for the efficient and stable operation of winch and rotary head drives

Two new counterbalance valves for direct mounting on Rexroth axial piston motors significantly contribute towards increasing efficiency while lowering loads and to the speed stabilization of rotary head drives. The new valves complement the existing product portfolio for use in larger motors with higher flows. The control integrated in the cover reduces the time and costs required for commissioning.

Counterbalance valves reduce the risks of overspeed and cavitation for axial piston motors in open circuits. These can occur if the motor speed is greater than it should be for the given flow while braking or during the motor load-lowering process. Then the single and double-acting counterbalance valves limit the return flow of the hydraulic fluid until the rotational speed and the given inlet flow match again. Quick-closing spools ensure this function, even during sudden pressure drops. In addition, integrated boost check valves help to prevent cavitation in transition periods.

The long piston stroke with optimal cross-sectional profile ensures high stability. The low opening pressures that can be achieved increase efficiency when lowering. The control cover allows for variable damping buildup and simplifies adjustment to each application. This reduces commissioning costs and on-site setting time. In addition, the control works independently of temperatures and with increased stability.

Manufacturers can combine the new valves with different variable and constant axial piston motors from Rexroth. Bosch Rexroth can directly deliver the motors with the appropriate counterbalance valves, on request. Thanks to their versatile connectivity, they can be optimally inserted into existing installation spaces. In frame size 32, they can optionally offer four working ports and increase the flexibility for piping.

The BVE and BVD counterbalance valves in sizes 25 and 32 are designed for 350 bar nominal pressure and a maximum pressure of 400 or 420 bar at a maximum flow of up to 650 l/min. Reduced pressure drop rates increase efficiency and improve the energy efficiency of winch and rotary head drives.

Economical, precise, safe, and energy efficient: drive and control technology from Bosch Rexroth moves machines and systems of any size. The company bundles global application experience in the market segments of Mobile Applications, Machinery Applications and Engineering, and Factory Automation to develop innovative components as well as tailored system solutions and services. Linear motion, short time to market

Stand-alone linear axes are the trend. The combination of electrical drive unit and mechanical or hydraulic cylinder reduces installation space and engineering time and combines our specific professional knowledge in one system. With ready-to-mount and i4.0-enabled solution packages, Bosch Rexroth is in line with the current market requirements regarding electrification, digitalization and monitoring as well as condition-based maintenance. The uniform control and drive concept which is used in the different technologies serves as a basis for a short time to market and the economical implementation of hybrid solutions.
