Consistently transparent tightening processes increase quality and output

Process Quality Manager

The Process Quality Manager monitors and documents all tightening processes in real time across plants and thus supports continual quality improvement.

Rexroth's Process Quality Manager improves productivity via intelligent usage of data

  • Monitor process data in real time across several different plants
  • Detect process errors and tendency for risk
  • Reduce costs for reworking and errors

Precision, time and reliability are significant factors during tightening processes with regard to profitability. Even very small deviations from the set value can generate considerable costs. Rexroth's software Process Quality Manager still does a good job when handling thousands of tightening operations in several plants: Permanent real time view and intelligent usage of data enable tightening experts to detect process risks early on. This allows them to intervene quickly to take preventative measures and thus increase quality and output.

The Process Quality Manager provides a thorough display of any possible deviations from the set value and error trends – all in real time across several plants.

This software therefore supports quality management in all assembly and joining processes. This benefit of central monitoring and documentation is particularly important in the automobile industry. Since there are thousands of safety- and function-related tightening operations in this sector, huge data volumes are produced every day containing measurement values on parameters such as torque or tightening time for every single connection. Despite this, tightening experts always maintain an overview, detect tendencies easily and thus intervene more quickly with error prevention and elimination measures. This results in a high level of transparency which users can implement to specifically optimize the production and logistics processes along the entire value added chain.

Data transformed into relevant information

Just as Industry 4.0 intended, the functionality of the software extends far beyond simple data access: It turns the data into relevant, context-related information. For this purpose, the Process Quality Manager first gathers and analyzes the data from all used tightening controllers and displays them clearly in the form of a tree structure on the cockpit. Fast navigation between levels is guaranteed from the plant overview to the individual channels. If fixed values are exceeded they are shown in red and the tightening expert is notified immediately. The expert is provided with a number of evaluations such as tightening graphs, nine-square tables or histograms which can be used in the cockpit to perform systematic analysis and check successfully implemented measures using reporting functions. The database can be accessed at any time using a standard web browser, however the access rights of individual employees are managed in the cockpit and clearly defined.

The Process Quality Manager is a collaborative solution from Bosch Rexroth and Bosch Software Innovations. Machine and component manufacturers will also benefit from the software along with end users. They can offer their customers a further service for continuous process optimization and thus extend their own business segment.

SW machine for networked productivity

Modern operation based on smart devices, integrated simulation tools and connection to industry 4.0: These requirements are satisfied by Schwäbische Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH (SW) also thanks to cross-technology automation by Bosch Rexroth. In this connection, the manufacturer relies on the CNC system solution IndraMotion MTX with open interfaces. At the same time, SW increases the energy efficiency in the machining centers thanks to Sytronix variable speed pump drives for the hydraulics and reduces the total costs of ownership also for the new RSHP roller rail systems with a useful life prolonged by up to 35 percent.
