Automated maintenance options for Compact Modules improve machine availability

Rexroth compact modules can now also be connected to one-point lubrication systems.

Rexroth supports centralized lubrication concepts for modern maintenance concepts

Systematic evaluations of machine downtimes show enormous potential for improvement. Many failures are caused by incorrect maintenance intervals and lubricants. More and more machine manufacturers and end users are eliminating these risks associated with manual maintenance. Rexroth supports the trend towards automated process. Electromechanical Cylinders and now also Compact Modules are ready for implementing into automated maintenance system.

More and more machine manufacturers and end users utilize preventative maintenance to improve machine availability. An important instrument in this is automated and controlled lubrication. In modern concepts, users can additionally control lubrication according to the running distance. These demand based maintenance concepts reduce lubricant consumption and ensure high availability of the connected systems.

With the new lubrication possibilities Rexroth is now also transferring these preventative maintenance approaches to the Compact Modules. The ready-to-install Compact Modules are particularly well suited to automated handling tasks. Both the toothed belt and ball screw assembly drive types fit perfectly in liquid grease and oil lubrication systems. Lubricant ports supply the integrated ball rail systems of the Compact Modules and guarantee an evenly distributed lubricant even in wall mounted installations. Rexroth offers a third port for the ball screw assembly drive type.

Lubrication is independent of the axis position and possible also during operation. Design engineers therefore have a higher degree of freedom for the placement of the linear motion systems as they do not have to take access for manual maintenance lubrication into account. The connection to a automated lubrication system is a standard option and has no influence on the technical performance. Users will be able to select the lubricant ports with a mouse click as part of the online configuration of the Compact Modules. The lubrication option automatically generated into CAD model. The lubrication concepts are available for sizes 090, 110, 145 and 200. Similar options are already available for the Electromechanical Cylinders of the product families EMC and EMC-HD.

Productivity linearly increased

In high-volume production, users achieve a considerably higher productivity by means of lower transport times with the Linear Motion System (LMS) from Rexroth. The system is based on standard linear motors, where the workpiece carriers can be run independently. It positions workpieces precisely to within 10 µm, so that processing can start immediately without correction or transshipping to another assembly platform. This reduces unproductive delivery and idle times.
