Smart modular system solution for sheet metal forming

Groundbreaking energy management: At the EuroBLECH trade fair, Bosch Rexroth applies augmented reality to make invisible energy flows visible for the visitors to their stand.

With augmented reality and digital twin, Bosch Rexroth presents networked and energy-efficient solutions for servo presses

  • Demo presses with digital twin and augmented reality
  • Hybrid drive concepts with electric hydraulics
  • Networking: Motion Control VPx with Open Core Interface
  • Simster Consistent engineering with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL)

EuroBLECH 2016 (hall 11, D08): Under the motto "Connected Automation", Bosch Rexroth illustrates its modular system of efficient drive and control solutions for sheet metal processing using the example of a mechanical servo press. The focus will be on networked and energy-efficient electro-hydraulic and electro-mechanical solutions for drives. The groundbreaking energy management of the demo press illustrates an augmented reality application developed in cooperation with TU Chemnitz. Additional innovations at the stand: The high-performance industrial PCs of the VPx series with Open Core Interface suitable for hybrid drive concepts and the Simster simulation environment developed in-house. In combination with the control system, forming machines can be commissioned virtually in good time and with reduced time-to-market.

With the servo press presented in Hannover, Bosch Rexroth illustrates easy combination of the prepared and integration-friendly functional modules from one source to realize a consistent machine concept – including smart primary and secondary functions, energy management and seamless networking.

The universal Motion Logic MLC is also applied by Bosch Rexroth to prove that their hydraulics have taken the decisive step for Industry 4.0 integration. For hydraulic, electrical and hybrid drives, the control system also offers the Open Core Interface technology in addition to open PLC according to IEC 61131-3 and high-performance Motion Control. Machine manufacturers benefit from the advantages of the modern IT world including high-level language programming and networking via the Internet of Things and Services (IoT). With the option of control cabinet assembly, the high-performance and robust industrial PC VPx also sets new standards in terms of hardware.

With Open Core Interface, Bosch Rexroth also paves the way for consistent digital engineering and application of simulation environments like Simster. Their internally developed solution for multidomain simulation and model-based design enables machine manufacturers to already create a virtual image of the machine on a PC in the development phase. As Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) coupled with the model, the industrial control system can be tested with all control structures including virtual commissioning. The result: reduced programming and shorter time-to-market. With the demo press, Bosch Rexroth offers trade fair visitors the opportunity to experience this live at their stand.
