Analyze real time data easily on site

If new and existing machines are made transparent using the Data Analytics Server, users and mechanical engineers can continually improve the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

The Data Analytics Server from Bosch Rexroth makes machines and plants transparent on site for Industry 4.0 projects

  • Make new and existing machines more effective with analysis
  • Turnkey solution with preinstalled monitoring tools
  • Optional bundle with IoT Gateway provides even more connectivity
  • Live demo as part of the I4.0 showcase with Pfiffner (FFG)

With the Data Analytics Server (DAS), Bosch Rexroth presents a turnkey analysis and monitoring solution for new and existing machines. The real time data captured can be saved, evaluated and clearly visualized close to the machine. Sensitive information can therefore remain in the company. Predictive maintenance and other I4.0 use cases can be created quickly and easily using the rule-based actions via the web interface of the DAS. Manufacturer-independent communication with sensors, controls and higher-level IT systems is made via the open standards OPC-UA and PPMP. In the bundle with the IoT Gateway from Bosch Rexroth, the DAS achieves the highest connectivity, for example for subsequent MES connection of existing non-networked machines for example.

Using the monitoring and analysis function of the DAS, machines and processes can be made transparent in a cost efficient way, remote diagnostics carried out reliably and continuous improvement processes introduced. Users can find and remove bottlenecks in their production, record the quality data specific to the project or stabilize and optimize processes. The attainable plus in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) is also interesting for mechanical engineers as it can guarantee a certain level of availability for their customers and provide important insights for continuing development.

With the DAS, the I4.0 use cases can be implemented "on premises", which means without needing a cloud connection. Sensitive data remains in the company, there are no problematic latency periods. For comprehensive real time monitoring of controls, drives and sensors, the solution includes a real time database which is also suitable for large amounts of data. The sampling rate is less than 10 ms.

The integrated web interface allows device-independent operation and visualization including smart devices. The configuration is menu-controlled and does not require any programming skills. Very simple rule-based actions can also be established using templates, for example, to anticipate product-related damages using a monitoring package with limit value monitoring. The diagnosis logbook with the top 10 failure messages aims for fast process stabilization. The monitoring tool "Machine OEE Index" visualizes the success of the measures effected by the analysis.

The DAS only requires 16 GB RAM, 200 GB hard disk and Windows 10 64 Bit or higher for installation. Bosch Rexroth provides the DAS preinstalled on the current industrial PC generation IndraControl PR as a high-performance complete solution including hardware. A bundle with the IoT Gateway is another option that expands connectivity towards machine and IT level, which, for sensors, means proprietary control, MES and large cloud-based platforms.

You can see this high performance live at the EMO. As well as various Rexroth technology components, the DAS will also monitor three high-performance rotary transfer machines from Pfiffner in the I4.0. Using data such as operating mode, cycle time, piece counter and engine temperature, the DAS calculates, analyses and visualizes the state and the usage of the machine tools for remote diagnostics and targeted troubleshooting.

Valuable data from the machine tool

Both the users and manufacturers of machine tools are very keen to collect sufficient machine data in order to visualize and optimize the manufacturing processes and plant efficiency. The subsequent analysis of this data will reduce unplanned downtimes and lead to more efficient production with smaller batch sizes. With the IoT Gateway, Rexroth provides an easy to configure solution to collect sensor and machine data from existing, even older machinery and transfer it to higher-level IT systems. In terms of investment protection, this does not require any interference in the existing automation infrastructure.

The factory of the future creates added value through flexibility and agility

In future production environments demands on adaptability will rise. This development can only be realized by separating hardware and software in automation. Bosch Rexroth AG promotes this development primarily with a broad product spectrum from sensors to drive and control technology to software solutions.
