Hermes Award 2013: Bosch Rexroth Ranks in Top Five

Bosch Rexroth has reached the shortlist for the 2013 Hermes Award with an innovative software solution. This technology award for the capital goods industry, celebrated all over the world, is granted by Deutsche Messe under the auspices of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the government of the state of Lower Saxony as part of the Hannover Fair. An independent panel of scientists, scholars, and trade journalists judges the many submissions from various industries and technologies. With Open Core Engineering, Bosch Rexroth has made it into the top five innovations. One of the five will be chosen as the final winner and announced on April 7. Open Core Engineering bridges the gap between machine automation and the world of IT. For the first time, it allows engineers to work in a number of different programming languages and access the control kernel directly. This gives machinery manufacturers new freedom to implement innovative software ideas independently and set themselves apart from the competition.
