No overflow here!

The Dartford Creek Barrier is one of the most important elements in London’s flood protection system. Two gates, each weighing 160 tons, regulate the backflow of water into the River Thames and thus protect the towns of Dartford and Crayford from flooding.

A highly robust chain drive opens or closes the gates just as far as the situation requires. To make sure that this system continues to function perfectly in the future, the responsible agency initiated a modernization project for all the system’s hydraulic components.

Rexroth hydraulic motors now move the chain even more reliably than before and, in addition, are far more accurate when doing so.
