Relaxed, Safe Maneuvering with Joystick Operation

The Marex OS 3D joystick supports intuitive decisions, either as a convenient maneuvering aid or as a supplement to the traditional control

The Marex OS 3D joystick system facilitates ship control

Intuitive ship control with simple joystick movements while the control simultaneously compensates for environmental influences, such as wind or current – that's just what ship captains want. Rexroth Pneumatics presents the new Marex OS 3D, a modern remote ship control system that makes their wishes come true. Another contribution to convenient and safe ship control by Rexroth.

If the ship changes direction due to external influences, such as wind or current, the system automatically compensates by employing its integrated compass. The main principle of the vector control: the skipper moves the joystick and the ship mirrors the movement exactly. The system safely implements both lateral and rotary movements. Even in the tightest of spaces, the Marex OS 3D allows for intuitive ship control.

The system offers the option of integrating up to six joysticks in the Marex OS III remote ship control. Stand-alone joystick maneuver stations can be implemented just as easily as pairing the joystick with the Marex OS III control head at a station. Further functions, such as direct thruster actuation in thruster mode, for example, increase operating comfort and reliability.

Many types of vessels can benefit from the control concept, as the individual components of the Marex OS 3D can be configured and tailored to the specific application. From the joystick unit, to the pre-assembled cables for the CAN bus connection between modules and the main computer, Rexroth Pneumatics has matched all the components perfectly. Marex OS 3D is an open system that can also be used to retrofit or expand existing systems.

With its modern and ergonomic design, Marex OS 3D is suitable for any type of ship, whether yachts, megayachts, or work boats.

Large Electric Drives from Rexroth are certified for marine applications

Two marine classification societies, DNV GL and ABS, have certified the IndraDrive ML electric drive from Rexroth as “type approved” for use in ships and offshore equipment. The modular drive series covers a power range from 110 kW to up to four megawatts and supports a voltage range from 380 V to 690 V. The international certifications reduce engineering overheads for the suppliers of maritime plants.

Intelligent hydraulics for increased availability

Connected hydraulics increase the availability of machinery and plants through condition monitoring and predictive maintenance. For this purpose, Rexroth offers scalable solutions, from individual units with local evaluation to the complete, cloud-based monitoring of large plants. Sensors measure all relevant operating conditions and software detects wear before it leads to failure. Retrofitting kits also economically integrate already installed plants into these concepts.
