The strict compliance with the highest quality standards is becoming increasingly important in the automotive and its supplying industries as well as in medical engineering or in the metal and plastics processing industries. At its facility in Lorch, Germany, the Kistler Group with headquarters in Winterthur, Switzerland, manufactures electromechanical NC joining systems, which can be very easily integrated into existing automation systems. In its solutions, Kistler has been taking advantage of Rexroth drive technologies for many years – as in the new product maXYmos NC.

The enterprise Kistler Lorch GmbH is one of the market leaders in the manufacturing of ground-breaking electro-mechanical joining systems. Kistler solutions enjoy an excellent reputation in factory automation – particularly in the automotive and medical engineering industries. This was manifested by winning the Handling Award 2015 for their joining system maXYmos NC. They are used as sub-systems in machines or integrated into existing plants. In scalable drive concepts and safety technologies, Kistler makes use of Rexroth components to ensure maximum performance, process safety and efficient operation.


Maximum quality and safety

The performance of the new maXYmos NC system significantly benefits from the know-how of the Rexroth drive experts: With specific software for joining processes, the maXYmos NC controller serves as a Sercos master and the IndraDrive drives are used as Sercos slaves. The slaves feature the new SafeMotion V02 and are controlled by means of a safety zone module. This solution allows for safety functionalities up to the performance level e and easily fits into existing system concepts. The Sercos III real-time communication at cycle times of 250 μs facilitates the quick cyclic data exchange between the IndraDrive units and the maXYmos controller. The automation bus provides the controller with all relevant process parameters. This reduces the wiring effort to a minimum and enables the optimal force/displacement measuring, which helps to reduce cycle and reaction times during the joining process.
