Boschert GmbH & Co. KG: Increased effi ciency and productivity in sheet metal forming with variable speed pump drives from Rexroth

Energy Savings of Up to 80 Percent

Low operating costs and high productivity distinguish the sheet metal forming machines of the German manufacturer Boschert. With the new Quick-Bend press brake, the company has designed an extremely efficient solution – with hydraulics which benefit from the advantages of a variable speed pump drive from Rexroth. Among other things, this allows to reduce the energy consumption by up to 80 percent compared to conventional systems.

Boschert GmbH & Co. KG in Lörrach, Germany, has established an excellent reputation as a specialist for the production of robust, efficient and reliable CNC sheet metal forming machines. In the Quick-Bend press brake, which is available in two different sizes with pressing forces of 280 kN and 560 kN, Boschert makes use of a variable speed pump drive of Rexroth’s Sytronix series for the first time. This helps to increase the energy efficiency of the machine by up to 80 percent. In addition, the system works so quietly that users do not even need to wear any ear protection.

Fast and precise enough for batch production

During the project planning stage, Rexroth experts provided the Boschert engineers with support in the optimization of the Sytronix drive. Despite the enormous energy savings, it was possible to signifi cantly increase the dynamics and performance scope of the press brake compared to previous models: The combination of an IndraDyn synchronous motor with a highly dynamic IndraDrive frequency converter allows the pump to generate the required pressure directly after the start-up of the system. The A10FZG axial piston pump is suitable for rotation speeds of up to 3,000 min-1 and can be dynamically adjusted by the intelligent drive electronics as required. With an operating speed of 8 to 10 mm/s and its high machining accuracy during the pressing process, Quick-Bend can be deployed in batch production. All crucial components are designed as redundant systems to guarantee maximum availability and safety in manufacturing.
