Bow and stern thruster

Large vessels usually have one or more tunnel thrusters installed below the waterline. Both the bow thruster and stern thruster, tunnel thrusters located at the bow and the stern of a vessel, are primairily being used to facilitate slow speed maneuvering like docking. These tunnel thrusters, different from the azimuth thruster, do not need forward motion to be able to maneuver the ship.
