Accumulator charging circuits – providing power reserves while reducing energy requirements

Principle 1:

Accumulator charging circuits utilise half-load and zero-load states of the hydraulic system within the machining cycles to charge a hydraulic accumulator. While the pump is operating merely in circulation mode, power reserves are always sufficient for performing the required movements.

Pressure shut-off valve KAV:

Apart from the accumulator itself, the pressure shut-off valve plays an important role. Available in pressure ratings of 50, 100, 200 and 350 bar, the pilot operated pressure shut-off valves of type KAV are suitable for common systems in industrial practice.

Thanks to their infinitely adjustable switching pressure differential, they offer users flexibility to adjust to their individual requirements

Principle 2:

Accumulator charging circuits achieve even greater energy savings, if the hydraulic system does not require a continuous circulation flow. In this case, the system automatically switches the pump off and provides power for the machine functions from the accumulator. The hydraulic pump only displaces oil to charge the accumulator when required. This approach results in energy savings for the power unit by up to 50 percent depending on the machining cycle.
