Bianca Schlotter: What moves you at 7:51 am?

We keep the world moving with state-of-the-art hydraulic drive and control technology. Behind this are a great many associates here at Bosch Rexroth. That is why we would like to introduce you to some of our associates, who work in very different fields at Bosch Rexroth, and their motivation. Their commitment gives meaning to our 'We Move. You Win' slogan.

Hello, Bianca, inspector in the Production Execution Assembly and Functional Testing of Hydraulic Units department at our plant in Elchingen what moves you at 7:51 am?

After graduating from high school, I trained as an industrial mechanic specializing in machinery and plant engineering. After my apprenticeship, I successfully completed further training to become an industrial master in metal.

1. What is your job at Bosch Rexroth and what does a normal working day look like for you?

My job is to assemble hydraulic units that I receive from assembly on the test bench. I then make customer-specific adjustments to these units and check them using our test program. If all the numbers match and the parts pass the test, the units are sent to the next department for further processing. These hydraulic units are used in excavators and agricultural machinery, for example.

2. What motivated you to apply for a job with us?

While I was still in high school, I completed a one-week internship at Bosch Rexroth in Elchingen. I was impressed by the insights I gained into the training workshop and production. I got to know nice employees and I enjoyed the work. I was also fascinated by the interrelationships in the large company. In addition, many acquaintances have recommended Bosch Rexroth to me as an employer and I was fascinated by hydraulics, especially the many different products.

3. We are a global company - how does your job connect you with other colleagues at Bosch Rexroth? What do you value most when you think of your colleagues?

I have a lot of contact with colleagues at the site, everyone is helpful and very collegial. Our team works well, i.e. everyone helps everyone and everyone has ideas, we treat each other with respect and I am fully accepted as a woman among many male colleagues.

4. The work situation has changed significantly for many people due to the Corona pandemic. How do you manage to keep in touch with colleagues despite all this?

Our managers ensure that information is exchanged between shifts. We now work staggered shifts, so you do not meet up with the next and previous shift, but we are still a team. Team Rexroth.

5. Bosch Rexroth is innovation-driven and is on the cutting edge of everything we do. What do you contribute to this with your job in terms of technology and innovation?

For example, I test prototypes and am therefore involved when newly developed products are created for the market.

6. Do you feel that you are assigned different and exciting challenges in your job?

Yes, I work with a lot of different units that have many additional functions. The parts I test are very different and that makes my job exciting.

7. What do you particularly like about your job?

I particularly like the varied tasks, the fact that I have an individual workstation but still work in a team. My job is never boring; on the test bench, I try to find out what's wrong when something does not work.

8. How do you feel about the work-life balance at Bosch Rexroth? How flexible are you in balancing your private and professional life?

In shift work, it is sometimes difficult to keep private appointments. I have regular working hours every week and organize myself accordingly.

9. What qualities do you need to have in order to carry out your job?

You should have a technical interest, understand the interrelationships, like to work with work clothes and work precisely, carefully and cleanly. In addition, one should be well organized and able to work in a structured manner, and one must be a team player.

10. What training and development opportunities have you received so far and how have they helped you reach your full potential?

I have attended very interesting product training courses. I also completed my master craftsman training, for which time I was released by Bosch Rexroth and was promised re-employment.
