Increasing energy efficiency in cooling and lubrication systems

Initial situation

The machining center was equipped with a control pump for the hydraulics for clamping, gripping, straightening and weight compensation as well as with a fixed displacement pump for the filter/cooling circuit. The system had an installed capacity of 5.5 kW.

The Rexroth 4EE Solution

A variable speed pump drive with a connected load of only 4 kW produces the required flows on demand and lowers rotational speeds in partial load operation as needed. This reduced the amount of cooling needed, even more so because the Rexroth specialists rerouted the tank line through the filter/cooler. Moreover, Sytronix simplifies the engineering significantly.

The result

By switching to a variable speed pump drive, the energy consumption of the hydraulic system in this machining center drops by 45 percent.
