Increasing energy efficiency in the woodworking industry

Initial Situation

At a veneer mill producing popsicle sticks, the loading device loads the tree trunks into the production line. In the previous solution, a pressure limiting valve controlled the flow of the constant pressure unit.

The Rexroth 4EE Solution

Rexroth specialists replaced the old system, in which a fixed displacement pump was driven by an asynchronous motor running permanently at 1800 l/min, with a variable speed pump drive with a 4 liter reservoir for pressure-holding operations. In this application, the Sytronix SvP 7000 consists of an internal gear pump, a synchronous servo motor, and a frequency converter.

The result

The new automation lowers energy consumption by 83 percent in the pressure-holding operation, while at the same time improving the system behavior. This makes it easier to operate. Over the entire operating cycle, the specialists have calculated energy savings of 70%.
